3D printing gets faster, better, and more automated in 2023
May 11, 2023 2:26pmWith the AMUG Conference and Rapid+TCT under our belt, the AM industry has already covered a lot of ground in 2023. So far this year, we’ve seen an uptake in interest across all sectors on how 3D printing technology can boost production, transform business models, and support sustainable manufacturing. Aerospace, defense, and medical are still […]

April 21, 2023 3:33pmThe Space Enterprise Berkeley (SEB) team successfully launched their first-ever liquid-fueled rocket, Eureka-1, which reached 11,024 ft in December last year. The collegiate team partnered with Protolabs to create parts for Eureka-1’s plenum and complex parachute system using selective laser sintering (SLS). “3D printing made sense for creating a part that could combine functionalities. It […]

3D Printing
Proto Labs’ 3D printing processes use industrial-grade additive manufacturing technologies to create extremely accurate prototypes from small parts with complex geometries to large, precise patterns. 3D-printed parts are built by rapid stereolithography (SL), selective laser sintering (SLS) and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) processes, and in a range a plastics and metals.
CNC Machining
CNC machining works well for smaller quantities of up to 200+ parts. We use three-axis milling and turning to machine engineering-grade plastic and metal parts for prototyping and production. Get machined parts for functional testing, cylindrical applications, jigs and fixtures, and any one-off needs.
Injection Molding
Injection molding is used for rapid prototyping, bridge tooling and low-volume production of up to 10,000+ parts. Choose from more than 100 thermoplastic resins as well as various metal and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) materials. Parts are available in a number of finishes and at a fraction of traditional molding costs.
Research and Development
Protoworks is Proto Labs’ center for researching, developing and market-testing new accelerated manufacturing processes for prototype or low-volume production parts.
